When Omaha Web Design builds a website, most of the time our customers supply their own content, but the inclination of the client in many cases is to simply copy paste from another website. In my recent post, Google Panda Update Seems to Like Video? The Best and Worst Results, we discussed the impact of the Algorithm that Google uses to decide where websites Continue reading

Facebook Fan Page Tips: Design Elements Part One – Profile Banner
Hiya & welcome back to another Fan Page Tip!
Today we’re going to figure out what makes for a good design for your Profile Banner (Profile Picture) – not to be confused with the images that appear across the top of your page, we’re talking about the 180 pixels wide by 540 pixels high graphic found at the top left corner of your fan page.
So you may be thinking ‘What do I even put up there…? Maybe I should just find & upload a really nice my photograph of myself.”
Well, you really should be maximizing the space available for you to use! Just having your really handsome or stunningly gorgeous face even showing your pearly whites isn’t really going to do a whole lot for you… (now there probably will be some who will ‘like’ you just for being so good-lookin’) maybe it might help if people knew you were a dentist or a dating site but… Continue reading

When it comes to web design, web marketing and SEO in Omaha or any area, there’s a lot of talk about DIY SEO’s out there using poor practices, and relying on things like the old Page Rank to see how well they are performing on search. It drives me absolutely nuts when someone is using outdated methods to have good search position yet they perform horrible and can’t figure out why the Google search results are low. You then have they SEO “philosophers’ in think their methods are the only way to get SERP(Search Engine Results Page) Continue reading

How Branding Relationships Can Hurt You
I was watching a marketing video and it hit me as to what relationships I had with some of my marketing peers. Seeing tantrums and deception among marketers is not uncommon, but I found jealousy and narcissism in these relationships that did not benefit me, and actually those associations could damage my branding not to mention that some of these associations demonstrated to me a psycho-pathology that had a potential to harm me Continue reading

I know a lot of people are beginning to get into mobile websites for smartphones. Most wordpress websites work well with mobile, but the magnification on the mobile browser has to be adjusted. A easy way to build a mobile smart phone website is by using something like Coffeecup Visual Site Designer. You can build a mini version of your website then insert a code something like this in the <head> of your website.
<script type="text/javascript">
if (screen.width <= 499) { document.location = "mobile.html"; }
</script>
If you need assistance or have questions about building a mobile version of your website, feel free to contact me at 402-813-4034.

I decided to offer a huge package of desktop backgrounds that I have used in my website development for years. These are HD backgrounds(hundreds of 1600+ pixel), and then I threw in some website graphics that also have .PSD files and some assorted graphics that are just include optical illusions and 3D graphics.

I can’t tell you all the times that these graphics have some in handy when building a website, and I have decreased many of those backgrounds for pictures on websites. Many of the backgrounds can be used a wallpapers on your desktop. Continue reading
