I had some free time out and about tonight, so I read a “Marketing Blog” that I usually don’t because of the following obvious reasons, and it was challenging to me. Not to sound negative, but It might as well been about the 3 bears. Instead it was from an “SEO and Marketing Expert”. While some of his concepts hold a grain of truth, the FAIL was he really didn’t have clients(many know this), and he postulates his marketing concepts with a lack of practicum.
In part of his post, he carefully attacked and exploited reciprocity of having friends on twitter. While it sounded meaningful to head the charge and a bloated attack on why you shouldn’t do the “friend for friend” thing, and from some this might have weight in many circumstances, it exposes his marketing failure. While I’m no fan of having friends that tweet only about the ebook they want to sell, I have got some monetary traction from having friends who are aspiring internet marketers(primary targets from the friend for friend thing), and that’s because many need web assistance. I live in Omaha Nebraska, and state budget cuts has made it difficult at best for many non-profits to survive. Many rely on grants to continue with their efforts of their respective cause. Where most non-profits lose their perspective to bring in revenues online is by thinking the same rules of marketing for any business does not apply to them. You can have good keywords and well written content, but still the cash register is silent when asking for money.
